Las Vegas was really fun. Our flight left at 6am this morning, which means... I'm tired. I ended about $20 down in video poker... which is ok. Because I played a lot of 5¢ video poker and got free beers for doing it. I like to think I came out ahead. I also drank a lot of daiquiris, one came in a football. So there I definitely came out ahead. And went to Hoover Dam and saw the Cirque du Soleil show LOVE... which was pretty effing cool. Those people are amazing and I am amazed that there are enough people who can do that crazy amazing stuff to staff 5 Cirque shows in Vegas plus all the touring companies and so on. Wow. I also got some suntan and ate a ton. I was in "three all you can eat" situations in 4 days... and managed to eat all I could in the rest of technically not "all you can eat" situations. Amazing and disgusting. I had I think 3 hotdogs while we were there. Which is like 3 times more hotdogs than I've had in the past two years. Hotdogs are delicious!
I had a great time with Charlie's family, too, both immediate and extended. Also, apparently the cure for my foot injury was not two weeks of rest, icing and wrapping it like I was trying... no, it was walking a lot and drinking daiquiris so it wouldn't hurt. Voila. Weirdly, it's pretty much fine now. And I discovered not running for almost three weeks and being completely lazy and gluttonous may have derailed my Crazylegs plans. We'll see, maybe I'll get back in the swing faster than I fear based on my frigid little job this afternoon.
So now I spend the next 3 days doing weeks worth of stuff... and eating a lot of vegetables before continuing my wanton ways in Nashville starting Thursday. Woo!

Spring Breaks 2 & 3
Spring Break is over. Not surprisingly, the trip continued to be very fun. I put some pictures on Facebook. You should look at them or make friends with someone who can look at them. Or it might work to click here. Anyway, we drove back yesterday and arrived in Madison about 12:45am. Made 8am Immigration all the sweeter, I'll tell you. Now the best thing about the end of this break is that it's not the typical boring end of vacation, because, guess what, we're going to Las Vegas for 4+ days on Thursday. And then I come back Monday and that Thursday, go to Nashville for 4+ days.
It's a good time. Somewhat annoying is still having problems with my foot. I've been more vigilente about the I and C in RICE lately, but I am a little concerned about being the need to R and E as well when I am supposed to be getting ready for Crazylegs.
So, anyway, any suggestions for Vegas? For sprained foots?

Update!
I write from the Quality Inn Navajo Nation in Window Rock, AZ. We spent Friday and Saturday nights in Denver, it was a couple of days of extremes- becoming extremely tired, extremely hungry and, I think as a result of the first two, extremely drunk on Saturday during Denver's St. Patrick's Day celebration. I fell off my danskos twice, once skinning my knee and tearing my jeans, the second time something felt like it tore in my right foot and I've been gimping around ever since. Note to self, Danskos are not my drinking shoes. Anyway, the trip has been super fun so far. This is what the next couple of day looks like:

Spring Break!
Hi guys. This afternoon we leave on spring break. The dog is washed, homemade energy bars are made, sleeping bags have been located, laundry has been done. Last spring break ever, I am very, very sure. And the first break (winter or spring, I guess) in 3 years I haven't gone to New Orleans. We're driving to Colorado, then Arizona/New Mexico/Utah. Kind of crazy, should be mostly awesome. There are some interviews to be done down there, but also some hiking and camping and chilling. This morning Charlie asked if I was bringing homework. I thought about it... and said... no! He said he might bring some books. Like reading for fun books? If we can get this job thing squared away, post-Law School is looking awesome. Anyway, I am going to try to update this from the road.
See you in a week!

Goals? Check!
Today I ran 2.5 miles and signed up for Crazylegs. As per my New Years resolution, you may remember. I've finished the intervals part of the training program I was doing, now it's just a matter of increasing the time and distance until, fewer than 53 days from now, I am up to 5 miles. I am looking forward to slightly warmer weather because the treadmill is deathly boring. Also a little concerned that 10 days of spring break, a weekend in Vegas and a weekend in Nashville between now and the race may trip me up... no pun intended. I know for runners these are wimpy goals and accomplishments... but I am pleased with myself. Plus, runners, I don't judge you for wimpy accomplishments in being generally awesome, now do I?

Nothing Like a Little Righteous Indignation on a Sunday Morning
Dear One A Day:
I was shocked to see the One A Day Teen commercial recently and again surprised to see the same sexist junk on your website. Advertising Teen Advantage vitamins that give her clear skin and him strong muscles is a continuation of the silly, sexist and divisive rhetoric we've been seeing for years- girls' main concern should be being pretty and boys' being strong. Vitamins are ostensibly a health aid and the way One a Day has chosen to market Teen Advantage makes it clear that you are far less concerned with healthy teens than furthering gender stereotypes. I am not sure whether the 1960 ad agency from Mad Men came up with this campaign, but I am writing to tell you that here in 2009 this kind of sexist stereotyping ensures I will never buy your product.
