It's really dark here


It's a little hard to get used to. There are maybe two streetlights per block in residential areas... so, uh, it's dark. Coming from New York, or even Minneapolis, I've got to keep reminding myself that this is Madison and darkness doesn't necessarily mean being raped and murdered and left in a ditch... in Madison, in all likelihood, it means you'll get lost. But I am considering packing a flashlight.

Two?!? In Austin, most residential areas beyond downtown have, ah, infrequent street-lights. Definitely less than two per block. Like one every three block. It makes for very romantic late night strolls (which is the only time to stroll in this heat).
